Tonight's blog could go either way at the start of the day i couldn't wait to tell you about the day we started out at our campground with kayaks, tubes and fishing poles. There is a company that will pick youup down river 6 miles. so we were so excited it could take anywhere from 3-5 hours so we packed a lunch and took off. We all just kept giggling because it was so cool. jeff and I started in the kayak and jeff was fishing while floating down stream and caught another fish. Yay! I also caught a fish right next to a bridge. We pulled over for lunch and watched people jump into a deep part of the river from the rocks above. Theses deep parts were hard to come by. Plenty of times we had to get out and drag the kayak through.Still having a good time jumping off to swim and just relaxing, we saw a family of otters, the cutest thing ever. A big turtle swam by and a raccoon ate lunch on the bank. $hours in to the trip the clouds started to get grey and jeff was alittle concerned about the time we had no idea where we were and where the pick up spot was but thought there last pick up would be around 5 or 6. So we started to put it into high gear, to get out. The river had no flow it was literally like rowing up river and now pulling very tired children in tubes made for a very cranky daddy and a moody mommy. Yes this is where the day goes very sour. The heavens opened up and just poured down rain we now all have sunburns and are freezing but having to work because we can hear the thunder and where there is thunder, yep lightning. Th storm passes for the most part and we continue to try and hurry because it is now getting late. The kids started to feel the urgency to get home when the next big cloud is hovering over and there isn't another person in the water. The kids and i get into the kayak and jeff and maverick get in to the tubes and start to swim. Minutes later the cracking thunder and lightning began again the rain is so hard it was filling up our kayak and you couldn't see right in front of you this storm didn't look like it was letting up anytime soon. There was finally a canoe that passed us but flew by. Still not knowing where we were we got together and tied the kids close to the kayak and put all there life jackets on because it was raining so hard i was now worried about flash floods. We finally came up on a gravel area with tire tracks and the lightning was getting bad so we sent to kids up and around the corner was our pick up spot and they were waiting for us. What a sign of relief. The rain didn't let up on the river and the driver said that was the hardest rain they have gotten in over 2 months. We got home(camp) and shed our clothes on our red bodies. We let the rain stop and then walked back down to the river for some fishing before we leave tomorrow. Mave caught the biggest fish and makaiely caught a little bitty fish it was so cute. A large beaver swam by and hung out for a little bit and our path home was once again lit up by light bugs. Sad to say goodbye to Arkansas but glad to leave alive.
